Évi and I visited Meader's in early February 2004 just before I was detached down the Falklands. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the restaurants ambience. The prices we found to be very reasonable. An added treat is the Hungarian Special for two where you can take pleasure in a main course and dessert washed down with a bottle of red or white Hungarian wine. A true taste of Hungary, highly recommended.

NEWS FLASH [09/12/04]: Some sad news I am afraid. During a recent trawl around the Internet I came across a reference that this delightful restaurant is for sale. If this becomes a reality than it is a tragedy.

Évi and I visited this restaurant on 7th December. A cross between a cukraszda and cafe, the owner has given this 1960's building am much needed facelift to create a more traditional Hungarian atmosphere inside. A disappointment was the waitresses although not English, were not Hungarian.

Directions : Take the tube to Swiss Cottage (Jubilee line), take the third exit (sign posted 'Finchley Road'). When you reach street level you will find the Swiss Cottage to your left, do not follow this direction. Instead face the opposite way, cross the road using the two pedestrian crossings heading towards Barclays bank. You now turn right, passing McDonalds en-route. The walk is about 5 minutes from the tube station.
